£100M Chelsea signing ‘gamechanger’ –Boehly releases statement after deal–Poch told to get deal done for £72M man

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has issued a message following the confirmation of Mason Mount’s departure. Mount, who was highly regarded at Stamford Bridge and had become a beloved figure among fans for his tireless performances on the pitch, had fallen out of favor at the club over the past year. Additionally, Mount was unable to reach an agreement on a new contract with Chelsea, allowing Manchester United to swoop in with a £60 million offer and secure a deal for the Englishman.

Mount has now signed a five-year contract with Manchester United, extending until 2028 with the option of an additional year. In response, Boehly expressed appreciation for Mount’s professionalism and his popularity among the club’s supporters. He thanked him for his contributions both on and off the field throughout his time at Chelsea.

Mount himself acknowledged that it was the right time for him to leave Chelsea, a club he had been with since the age of six. In a farewell video shared on social media, he expressed gratitude to the Chelsea fans for their support over the past 18 years. He acknowledged that some fans may not be pleased with his decision but emphasized that it was what he believed was right for his career at this moment. Mount reflected on the memorable moments he shared with the club, including winning the Youth Cup, earning player of the year awards, and the triumphs in the Super Cup, Club World Cup, and the unforgettable Champions League victory. He expressed gratitude to the academy, the managers, the backroom staff, his teammates, and most importantly, the fans, while extending his best wishes.

In other news, Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly been advised by Paul Merson to replace Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Although Edouard Mendy’s departure may suggest that Pochettino has chosen to retain Arrizabalaga as the first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season, Merson believes that Chelsea is in need of a new world-class goalkeeper. Merson pointed out that having a goalkeeper who can earn points for the team is crucial and referenced David De Gea’s impact at Manchester United. Merson also highlighted the need for reinforcements in Chelsea’s midfield, given the departures of several key players. However, he expressed optimism that if Pochettino manages to secure a top-four finish with the addition of midfielder Moises Caicedo, it would be an impressive achievement.

Furthermore, Merson suggested that reuniting Pochettino with Tottenham captain Harry Kane would be a game-changing move for Chelsea. With Pochettino now officially at Stamford Bridge, there are rumors of his desire for a new striker. Kane, who is heavily linked with a departure from Tottenham, is seen by Merson as the player who could elevate Chelsea to another level. Merson believes that Kane’s arrival would significantly enhance Chelsea’s title-challenging prospects and expressed disbelief at the notion of Kane joining Bayern Munich, emphasizing the English striker’s outstanding goal-scoring record and questioning the motivation behind a move to a club that has consistently dominated the Bundesliga.
