“A very good player but bloody hell” – Gary Neville reacts to Chelsea’s €127million offer to sign World Cup star

Gary Neville, a former player for Manchester United, has claimed that if Chelsea pays €127 million (£112 million) to get Enzo Fernandez in the January transfer window, they would have overpaid.

After assisting Argentina in winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Fernandez was voted the tournament’s Best Young Player.

The £100 million Manchester City paid Aston Villa for the services of Jack Grealish will be surpassed by Chelsea’s offer of €127 million (£112 million), leaving former United defender Neville astounded that Chelsea is willing to pay so much for the Argentine.

“Is Chelsea paying Enzo Fernandez €127 million? That is a really steep price. However, bloody hell! A very good player! Neville tweeted, Gary.

Fernandez has already agreed to personal terms with Chelsea and is still eager to join the team this month.

Fernandez has notified Benfica he will not play in their upcoming match against Portimonense on Friday night in his latest effort to force a transfer to Chelsea.
