According to Harry Redknapp, Frenkie de Jong has snubbed Manchester United in favor of joining Chelsea

According to Harry Redknapp, Frenkie de Jong has informed a member of Manchester United’s management that he has rejected a transfer to Old Trafford and wants to sign with Chelsea this summer.

Although De Jong and Barcelona reached an agreement on €85 million (£71.7 million), the midfielder has not yet left Barcelona despite United’s pursuit of him all summer.

Chelsea is conversing with Barcelona about a move for the Dutch international at the same time.

De Jong has made it obvious that he would prefer to stay at Barcelona, where he still owes over €17 million (£14 million), despite agreeing to delay a portion of his contract in order to aid the team’s financial condition.

Redknapp, though, asserts that he has reliable information indicating that De Jong is eager to transfer to Stamford Bridge before the window ends.

Redknapp remarked, “Now it appears like De Jong wants to go to Chelsea, I know that for a fact, he wants to go to Chelsea,” when asked about De Jong’s predicament by The Byline.

“Man United won’t acquire him.” He’s made up his mind and really wants to go to Chelsea, according to information I received from someone at the very, very, very top of Man United.

So if he goes to Chelsea and Man United don’t get him, I’m not sure where they’re heading, and if Chelsea get him, he’ll clearly be a wonderful signing for them, it goes without saying.

De Jong is still a crucial component of Xavi’s plans, the midfielder insisting last month despite Barca’s willingness to move the player.

I’ve spoken with him, and he is aware of how highly I regard him as a player, stated Xavi.

We have had some extremely crucial private chats, which I won’t discuss here. He is a crucial member of the team, in my opinion.
