Bohley hope you are happy now – Embarrassing game – Potter out – Shame on all of them, Poor performance – Chelsea Fans blast Havertz out

Graham Potter’s return to Brighton could not have gone any worse as the Seagulls humiliated his Chelsea team 4-1.

Leandro Trossard scored after just three minutes, and after a disastrous first half in which Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Trevoh Chalobah both scored own goals, Kai Havertz’s consolation header was of little consequence.

Within the first several minutes, Thiago Silva alternated between villain and hero. Due to a faulty pass, Trossard was given a chance, which the Brazilian had to block before he could be hit by Pervis Estupinan’s corner kick.

Not having learned his lesson, Silva mishandled the ball once more, and this time Trossard made no mistakes, around Kepa and putting the ball into the bottom corner to give Brighton the lead after only five minutes.

Ten minutes later, the Seagulls earned a second goal by continuing to exert pressure. Unaware Loftus-Cheek could only watch as the ball went into the goal after Solly March’s corner found its way to his knee.

Conor Gallagher nearly scored twice, but Robert Sanchez made two outstanding stops to deny him. The first stop was made after a terrible miss from Christian Pulisic, while the second came after a good effort by Havertz.

The third occurred just before the break. Chalobah’s streak of unbeaten starts for Chelsea came to an abrupt end as Estupinan gained some space in the box and crossed for him. Chalobah then turned Estupinan’s ball into the goal.

Within the first three minutes of the second half, Chelsea scored. Havertz received a cross from Gallagher that he headed toward the goal, sparking an exciting second half of play.

The Blues were much-improved and controlled the ball as time passed, but aside from the occasional peek, they were unable to break down a resolutely tenacious Brighton defense that was equally willing to do the dirty work.

The Seagulls managed to hold on with surprising ease and added a fourth before the final horn when Pascal Gross knocked in a rebound in stoppage time to secure a storied victory.
