BREAKING: Ten Hag personally eyeing Man Utd move for new “world-class” player

Many many thought Jose Mourinho would be the one to finally bring Manchester United back to its glory days under Sir Alex Ferguson when he was recruited in the summer of 2016.

Old Trafford supporters were upbeat about the future after he won three trophies in his rookie season and enjoyed success at Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid (where he won league titles at each).

It didn’t quite work out that way, though, as the player was fired in December 2018 for failing to assist the team in capturing a new championship. He now has a long list of well-publicized failures, including Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba, and Fred.

Romelu Lukaku, whom Manchester United acquired from Everton for £75 million in 2017, was possibly his biggest gaffe in the transfer market. Lukaku was expected to score the goals that would propel the Red Devils to yet another Premier League title.

Given that his two-year spell was unproductive and that his value has since decreased, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the right choice to move him in 2019.

Romelu Lukaku is currently worth…

Despite the fact that the former Chelsea striker scored 27 goals in all competitions during his first season with United, his teammates weren’t nearly as capable of challenging Manchester City for the league title.

It was much harder for him to live up to the enormous expectations that had been placed on him throughout his stay at the club with only 15 goals in 45 games in his second season. The striker was also lambasted by journalist Samuel Luckhurst for his “woeful” and “expensive” finishing.

Especially after his underwhelming second season, accepting Inter Milan’s offer of £74 million to lure him away from Manchester and into Serie A was clearly the right choice.

As Lukaku’s form and value have both significantly declined, that choice has turned out to be among the best ones the club has ever made.

He did score 24 league goals for Inter in the season that they won the Scudetto in 2020–2021, but since then, he has only scored 21 goals for Chelsea (whom he joined in 2021) and Inter once more while on loan.

The 29-year-valuation old’s is merely €46.5 million (£41 million), according to Football Transfers, and if his present form continues, this value will only decrease. By offloading Lukaku at the correct time, United made a wise decision, as seen by his subsequent strike rate.
