CHE 2-0 BVB: Main Reason Why Havertz Replayed The Penalty After Missing It – See Details

By beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the round of 16 match of the UEFA Champions League, English Premier League team Chelsea secured a spot in this season’s quarterfinals.

Kai Havertz, a German international, scored one of the goals from the penalty spot after being requested to retake the shot after missing the first time.

The Chelsea football team was given a penalty kick in the 50th minute, and Kai Havertz came up to take it since Jorginho Frello was not there. While Borussia Dortmund players celebrated, his shot struck the post.

For a little moment, they were jubilant until the Video Assistant Referee gave the order to take another spot kick. Naturally, Kai Havertz did not err this time, as seen by the clean goal.

Players from both sides entered the 18-yard box prior to Havertz taking the penalty, prompting the referee to request a review of the incident. And before a penalty is awarded, all players must be outside the 18-yard box, as per FIFA regulations. Also, the penalty kick must to be retaken if there is an encroachment.
