Chelsea board Apologises to Thomas Tuchel, admits they made a mistake sacking him
According to the Daily Mail, the Chelsea owners have acknowledged they could have erred when they fired Thomas Tuchel last September.
This season, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the team’s co-owners, sacked Tuchel after just a few games.
Boehly quickly hired Graham Potter from rival Premier League team Brighton.
After seven months in charge, Potter was also fired afterwards.
In retrospect, it is acknowledged that keeping Tuchel for a season could have been preferable for a smoother transition, even though the relationship with the German coach was never going to last.
The Americans also believe that by hiring Potter, who was so skilled at collaborating with owners and executives, they overcompensated.
The Blues were placed under the interim management of Frank Lampard until Mauricio Pochettino was hired as the team’s new permanent manager.
