Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly claims Thomas Tuchel was sacked because they did not ‘share a vision’ for the club’s future

After 20 months in command at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was fired despite having contributed to the club’s victories in the Champions League, the Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly claims Thomas Tuchel was sacked because they did not ‘share a vision’ for the club’s future

Chelsea had a rocky start to the new Premier League season after a challenging summer in the transfer market, winning just three of their first six games.

The breaking point came when Tuchel’s team lost 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. Tuchel was fired less than a day after the defeat in Croatia.

Graham Potter has taken over as manager of Chelsea in place of Thomas Tuchel, and Boehly maintains that the change was necessary to enhance “communication” within the team.

At the SALT Conference in New York on Tuesday, Boehly stated, “When you take over any organization, you just have to make sure you’re aligned with the people who are operating the business.”

Tuchel is undoubtedly very bright and a somebody who achieved amazing success with Chelsea, in my opinion.

“Our objective for the club was to locate a manager and coach who really wanted to work with us,” the club stated.

I believe Chelsea has many barriers to overcome. For instance, the first team and the academy previously didn’t properly share statistics, including information about the origins of the best players.

Our aim is to assemble a team that functions as a well-oiled machine with the academy, the first team, and the incremental teams we want to buy and develop.

And the truth of our choice was that we simply weren’t certain Thomas saw things the same way we did. No one is right or wrong; we just didn’t have the same outlook on the future. It wasn’t really about soccer; rather, it was about our common ideal of how Chelsea Football Club should appear.

It wasn’t a choice that was made in response to a single victory or defeat. The decision was primarily based on what we believed to be the club’s ideal future.
