“Chelsea drop out” Man United in pole position to sign £50m star who Pep loves

According to rumors, Manchester United are currently the front-runners to sign Andre Onana, the goalkeeper from Inter Milan.

Despite the ongoing takeover crisis, Manchester United could be very active in the upcoming summer transfer window. There are speculations about potential transfers for players in various positions.

One of the main priorities seems to be signing a new striker, and Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta is being considered for the role. For the midfield, Mason Mount from Chelsea is the primary target, and Manchester United has reportedly made a £40 million bid for the English international.

There have also been talks about adding a new defender, and initially, there were rumors that Kim Min-jae from Napoli might be joining Manchester United. However, it appears that he is now heading to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Another transfer rumor involves Andre Onana as a possible goalkeeper signing. Recent reports suggest that Chelsea has withdrawn from the competition to acquire him from Inter Milan and is exploring other options. As a result, Manchester United is now in the leading position to secure Onana’s services for approximately £50 million, potentially reuniting him with his former coach, Erik ten Hag.

Onana, who is a Cameroon international, previously played under Ten Hag at Ajax, making 145 appearances. He joined Inter Milan last summer and had an impressive first season in Serie A, keeping 19 clean sheets in 41 games.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who currently pays Onana a weekly wage of £67,000, praised the goalkeeper’s ball-playing abilities after the Champions League final.

Ten Hag and Onana have a bit of history, as the manager left the goalkeeper out of a cup final at Ajax last year before they both moved on. With the uncertain futures of David de Gea and Dean Henderson, bringing in a player like Onana could be a smart move for Manchester United ahead of the upcoming season, and the club seems to be in a favorable position to secure a deal.
