Chelsea player is in advanced negotiations to leave Blues – ‘In a hurry’ to sort out his future

N’Golo Kante’s deal with Chelsea ends at the end of the current campaign, so the midfielder presumably doesn’t want to put off deciding on his future for too long.

According to Catalan newspaper Sport today, the 31-year-old is pressuring Barcelona to reach an agreement on a pre-contract in January because they are “in advanced negotiations” with him.

Kante reportedly wants to find a new team quickly after leaving Chelsea. He is rumored to have other options open to him, and if Barça doesn’t act, he intends to give other teams, like Juventus, a shot.

The Camp Nou team hasn’t yet agreed with him because manager Xavi wants Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad to fill that post.

The board believes the Spaniard’s €60 million release clause may be an excessive investment, which is the problem.

The Barça board of directors prefers to sign a free agent, and Kante tops their list of available players.

He is credited with “generating more consensus” among the board of directors, the athletic department, and the coaching staff.

However, the Frenchman wants his future to be decided fast, and given that Sport makes no mention of the possibility of him continuing at Chelsea, it appears that he has already made up his mind to play someplace else.
