Greg Berhalter, the head coach of the United States men’s national soccer team, has argued that the dismissal of Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is a good thing for winger Christian Pulisic.
Berhalter is optimistic that Pulisic’s fortunes would change under Chelsea’s new manager Graham Potter if he is given the consistent playing time Tuchel denied him.
Under Tuchel, Pulisic had trouble getting into games despite being forbidden from leaving Chelsea this summer.
The American has only made one start this year for the Blues, and in one of his sporadic replacement appearances, he was even substituted in at right wing-back against Southampton.
When The Associated Press asked Berhalter if Pulisic may profit from Tuchel’s departure, Berhalter responded, “I’m not happy a guy lost his job, but if this means more opportunity for Christian, then it’s fantastic.
He has demonstrated his ability to perform at that level. All we can do is wait and see.
