Chelsea’s 6-foot-3 player is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in January

Edouard His Mendy, a goalkeeper for Chelsea, is apparently debating whether or not to sign a long-term contract extension.
One of Chelsea’s biggest financial agreements in recent years is the $22 million contract he signed to play for the Senegal international in September 2020.
Mendy participated in 104 of those games throughout that time and was a crucial part of his team’s Champions League victory in his first season.
However, the 30-year-old struggled in the early games of the season, and Kepa Hisarrizabalaga, a substitute, was given more opportunities due to his performance and injuries.
Arrizabalaga has since taken advantage of opportunities under Graham Potter and at one point came within milliseconds of recording a six-game unblemished streak across all competitions.
Prior to the World Cup, Mendy, a former club record holder, earned back his starting position in goal. Potter must pick a new goalkeeping position because despite Chelsea’s worst run since his arrival, he failed to record a shutout in four starts.
According to the Daily Mail, the position at Stamford Bridge provides Mendy some time to decide what to do next.
Despite having two and a half years left on their current contract, Chelsea is ultimately interested in a new agreement or a sale.
Mendy, who assisted Senegal in winning the African Cup of Nations at the beginning of 2022, is still held in high regard despite turning 31 in March.
