After completing his eagerly anticipated £85 million transfer from Ajax on the deadline day, Antony was immediately included in United’s starting XI for their match against Arsenal last Sunday and made an immediate impression on the supporters at Old Trafford.

He scored the first goal of the Red Devils’ 3-1 victory over the Gunners on his debut before being replaced by Ronaldo shortly before the hour mark.

Last Thursday’s opening Europa League match gave the Brazilian winger his chance to play with the Portuguese superstar, but they were unable to stop United’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad.

However, Antony has expressed his joy at getting to play with one of his heroes and claims to have picked up a lot of knowledge quickly.

The 22-year-old told ManUtd.com that “words can’t express Cristiano, the finest in the world.”

I’ve picked up a lot from him in a short period of time. Every time I speak with him, I learn a lot from his exceptional mind.

We have a powerful attack, and it is really encouraging for the future, I’m certain.

I’m here to support my teammates. Each player, regardless of age, possesses tremendous talent.

In his first two games Antony has already dazzled supporters with his trickery and skill, something that he has vowed to continue.

‘I’ve always done this, not just here but for all the teams I’ve played for,’ he added.

‘I’ve been doing it ever since I was a child. It’s one of my characteristics.

‘I am adapting and getting used to things here already. Entertaining is something I’ve always liked, and I’ll continue doing it.’

He’ll have to wait a little longer than expected to get that opportunity however, after United’s clash at Crystal Palace on Sunday was postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

United’s next game is currently slated to be on Thursday, with a trip to Moldovan side Sheriff in the Europa League.
