DONE DEAL: Man United could sign “superb” star sooner than expected “Ten Hag wants it done”

According to reports from Italy, Erik ten Hag is actively working to accelerate the transfer deal between Manchester United and Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana. The two parties are nearing an agreement on the transfer fee.

Will Andre Onana join Manchester United? Manchester United has made significant strides in their pursuit of Onana since agreeing on personal terms with the player last week. Ten Hag, the manager, has been looking to sign Onana as a replacement for David de Gea, who departed the team after his contract expired at the end of June.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Onana’s current club has advised him to “prepare” for a move to Old Trafford, and United is “confident” that they can finalize the deal. As a result, Inter Milan seems resigned to losing the player.

Ten Hag is eager for United officials to complete the deal swiftly, as he wants Onana to join the rest of the team on their preseason tour in the United States, according to reports from Italy (via Sport Witness).

A bid in excess of €50 million (£43 million) is being worked on, with Manchester United hoping that it will be enough to secure the transfer. This offer would narrow the gap between Inter’s demands and United’s willingness to pay.

Furthermore, there are suggestions that the negotiations could conclude as early as Wednesday, indicating that the agreement may be reached sooner than anticipated. Previous reports had stated that the deal would be finalized by the end of the week.

Is Andre Onana a good player? Journalist Oma Akatugba praised Onana as “superb,” and former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop commended his leadership qualities, stating:

“I’m impressed by everything I see. Onana’s leadership and sense of presence in the Champions League final particularly stood out to me, something I believe Manchester United lacked in that position.

While De Gea was an outstanding shot blocker over the years, the one flaw in his game when he was at his best was his inability to provide the kind of leadership the position required. Onana fulfills all those criteria.

He has the potential to be an improvement over De Gea, not only due to his on-field presence but also based on his superior performance compared to De Gea in the league last season in terms of average SofaScore rating, save percentage, and crosses-stopped percentage.

Although it is understandably sad to see De Gea leave the team after his long tenure, there are many indications that Onana could be an excellent replacement. De Gea won the Premier League’s Golden Glove award for the second time last season. Ten Hag will now be hoping that the Inter goalkeeper will be fit for Manchester United’s opening preseason match against Arsenal on July 22nd in the United States.”
