“Don’t join Arsenal” – Paul Merson warns Premier League top winger

Wilfried Zaha was instructed not to move so he could hear the club’s proposal to sign him by Arsenal icon Paul Merson.

This is in the midst of rumors regarding the future of the Crystal Palace and Ivorian star.

Zaha has five goals in nine games so far this year, but his contract expires at the end of the campaign, therefore he might quit the team.

Zaha, 29, may transfer to a “larger” team, with Arsenal being a logical candidate given his history with the Gunners.

Merson, though, has advised against switching to a bigger team. Wilfried Zaha plays every week at Crystal Palace, he said in his Daily Star column.

“He may play poorly and yet get the start in the next game, which might not occur at a Big Six team.

“I believe that before letting his contract expire, he should carefully weigh his possibilities. He is a palace legend, and the manager adores him.

If they make it to the Champions League, I can see someone like Arsenal making a move for him, but should he risk playing only a supporting role there?

You will then go on a free. It’s not like you’re Darwin Nunez, who must play because he cost £85 million. Will he want to play for a week before sitting on the sidelines? Simply put, I’m unsure if Zaha will find the grass to be greener.

“There is a reason why he is playing the best football of his career. He needs to take a seat and seriously consider his future.
