In the next games, Raheem Sterling or Reece James may wear the captain’s armband for Chelsea.

At Stamford Bridge, Cesar Azpilicueta is still the club captain, although the defender isn’t in the starting lineup right now.

Because of this, vice-captain Thiago Silva has served as the captain’s replacement often this season at Stamford Bridge.

Silva won’t be available soon, and the Daily Mail reports that he might be out for six weeks with an injury, so it’s unclear who will serve as the interim captain.

In his Substack blog, writer Simon Phillips said that Sterling and James are under consideration to temporarily wear the armband.

He asserts that Sterling’s prior expertise and leadership qualities are liked by Graham Potter. James, though, is seen as a potential club leader.

The ultimate choice will reportedly be decided based on team selection and general agreement.

First, James would be our first choice to assume the leadership position.

The 23-year-old right-back, who came through the academy, must be one of the first names on the roster since he is an expert on Chelsea.

James will be put to the test in these next games to determine his suitability as the long-term captain.

Sterling, who just arrived from £50 million last summer, is an intriguing prospect.

To be fair, the 28-year-old winger has a ton of experience, so we doubt that adding more responsibilities would make him uncomfortable.
