Erik ten Hag picks David de Gea’s replacement at Man United
Bart Verbruggen of Anderlecht has been chosen by Manchester United to replace David de Gea in goal.
The 20-year-old Dutchman, who has not yet signed a new contract with Old Trafford, will succeed De Gea.
This season, Verbruggen has appeared in 31 games for the Belgian team and has recorded 10 shutouts.
The Dutchman’s ability to play out from the back, as Erik ten Hag would prefer, is also reported to be good. This has been a tough aspect of De Gea’s game.
According to reports this week in England, ten Hag wants to take De Gea’s job. De Gea’s recent mistakes have cost the squad dearly, notably their Europa League loss to Sevilla.
The 20-year-old goalie is coveted by Ajax and PSV as well, but Manchester United is desperate to sign him because they are in need of a goalkeeper.
