Erik ten Hag ‘texted in vain’ to try and sign player – Man United manager will be watching from afar

This season, Manchester United strengthened their offensive division by signing Antony to their roster.

At the tail end of the previous transfer window, the Red Devils acquired the Ajax winger, allowing him to rejoin Erik ten Hag and Lisandro Martnez at Old Trafford.

In order to bolster the Manchester United strikeforce, the management looked at Brian Brobbey in addition to Antony.

Ten Hag is a familiar figure to the 20-year-old from his time at the Amsterdam club. As a free agent, he joined RB Leipzig in 2021 after leaving Ajax. He was returned to loan by the Eredivisie champions in January, and his transfer was made permanent in the summer.

Before the Dutchman signed a permanent contract with Ajax, Manchester United made an attempt to sign him. Algemeen Dagblad claims that Ten Hag ‘tried in vain’ to entice Brobbey to Old Trafford.

The player was informed over the phone by Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder that he would be in charge of his new offense. So far, that hasn’t happened. This term has not been good for Brobbey. He has made five league starts but has yet to play a single minute in the Champions League.

After Brobbey’s return to the club “took an ugly turn,” Schreuder decided that Mohammed Kudus should be his team’s attacking captain. According to AD, Ajax finds the latter’s supporting role to be “particularly unpleasant.”

Ten Hag, meantime, is probably going to keep an eye on things from a distance to see how they develop for his compatriot at his former club.
