Fabio Capello explains why Kalidou Koulibaly is having trouble at Chelsea

Fabio Capello, a former England manager, has made an effort to justify Kalidou Koulibaly’s struggles at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge.

In a £33 million trade this summer, Koulibaly moved from Napoli of the Italian Serie A to Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Chelsea, seems to have made a wise decision in signing the Senegalese international as he scored on his Stamford Bridge debut in the Premier League’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 31-year-old, however, put on a terrible performance the following week in a 3-0 loss to Leeds United, receiving a red card after receiving two cautions, and has come under fire for his performance ever since serving his suspension.

After spending so much time in the slower-paced Serie A, Capello believes Koulibaly simply needs to get used to the pace of the English top division.

Capello told Sky Calcio Club, “I would like to talk about the struggles Koulibaly is having at Chelsea.

He was doing things on his own in Naples. Now, his issues rely on how quickly they play in England.

“Udinese employed the same tempo to trouble Roma. It should cause us Italians to pause and think.
