“He is powerful and got great technique” – Rio Ferdinand, Cole hail Chelsea-bound striker
Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole, two former Manchester United players, have praised Chelsea’s acquisition of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
According to reports from Europe, a deal to sign the 24-year-old France international by the Blues is about to be finalized.
Nkunku was in outstanding form with Leipzig in the 2021–22 season, scoring 35 goals across all competitions.
In 13 games thus far this season, he has scored nine goals.
Despite initial reports indicating Nkunku, 24, had signed a pre-contract agreement and had undertaken a covert medical at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea seemed to have won the race to recruit him.
Cole said, “Massively so,” when asked on Thursday night’s episode of BT Sport if the news of Nkunku’s move to Stamford Bridge excited him.
He is strong, has excellent technique, can dribble and pass, and has good stats.
I believe he is exceptional. He seems to be playing with a lot of confidence right now.
He has always been regarded as a major talent, said Ferdinand.
I’m not shocked he’s joining the Premier League since I can see his confidence.
