“He is the link between midfield and attack” – Chelsea has been urged to sign player Thomas Tuchel was missing
Former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has recommended that Chelsea secure the services of Joao Felix permanently from Atletico Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Joao Felix, the Portuguese midfielder, was acquired on loan from Atletico Madrid by Chelsea in January until the end of the current season.
Speaking to Betway, Wright-Phillips stated, “Joao Felix. He was a player that, in a way, I’d say Thomas Tuchel was lacking. He is the bridge between midfield and attack that they lacked. Prior to Potter, when watching Chelsea’s defensive work over the last few years, it was incredible. However, when it came to the final third, there was no connection.
There was no danger from players like Frank Lampard, who would make runs into the box, or an Eidur Gudjohnsen, who would dribble and make things happen. It was simply midfield and attack, but I believe that Joao Felix will seal that gap.”
