Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea, has been praised by new Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard as a “big player” for the team.
Just over two years after the club fired him, Lampard has been named temporary manager until the end of the current campaign.
The 44-year-old previously oversaw the Blues from July 2019 to January 2021, and Mount was a crucial part of that team’s success.
Because of injuries, a lack of success, and rumors about his future at Stamford Bridge—where his contract expires next summer—Mount has had a challenging season.
The 24-year-old hasn’t played in either of Chelsea’s last two matches as a substitute.
At his first press conference, Lampard noted, “Mason has always been a wonderful player for me at Derby and Chelsea.”
“I am aware of his minor injury issues. I need to talk to him and find out where he is, but I already know what Mason will tell me. He is a vital member of Chelsea’s team.
