In light of Manchester United's recent form improvement, Paul Merson predicts the top four

Despite their improved form, Paul Merson believes Manchester United will fall short of a berth in the top four in the Premier League.

The Red Devils had a poor start to the season, dropping their first two games to Brentford and Brighton.

The team led by Erik ten Hag, however, reacted by going on a run of four straight Premier League victories, including triumphs over Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, Real Sociedad defeated United in their opening Europa League group stage game on Wednesday.

In the summer transfer window, Ten Hag strengthened his team with a number of high-profile additions, such as Antony, Lisandro Martinez, and Casemiro.

Merson, though, thinks that United will fall short of qualifying for the Champions League because their roster “needs a lot of improvement.”

Instead, the legendary Arsenal player has predicted that the top four teams will be Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Arsenal, in that order.

Merson predicted the Premier League top four for this season to be Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal, in any particular order.

We’ll have to wait and see how Potter performs at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea will undoubtedly have something or two to say.

As for Manchester United, I don’t believe they will succeed because their team still needs a lot of development.

They have won four straight league games, including triumphs over Liverpool and Arsenal, but I’m still not sold on them.

“Arsenal are good and I think they will be around for a while, but I’m still expecting Liverpool to turn it around in the next few weeks to secure a UEFA Champions League position,” the author said.
