“It’s not acceptable and it’s not good enough, nowhere near good enough for Chelsea” – Graham Potter receives warning after Chelsea’s 4-0 defeat to Man City

Graham Potter and Chelsea have received harsh criticism from Alan Shearer for their ‘unacceptable’ and ’embarrassing’ first-half display against Manchester City.

In the first half, Chelsea made no attempts to score against Manchester City, who jumped out to a three goal lead before the break.

Manchester City beat Chelsea 4-0 in the second half thanks to another goal of their own.

Chelsea has only won one of its last nine games overall, and Shearer blasted the Blues for their “embarrassing” performance at the Etihad.

“Manchester City have been excellent from the very beginning of the first half till halftime. They’ve been magnificent and have dominated the entire field, but from the perspective of Chelsea, that kind of performance is unacceptable, Shearer told the BBC.

“I said earlier that they need drive, character, and everything else. No matter how many injuries the team has, you can still go out and work hard. They didn’t. From their perspective, it is embarrassing.

Shearer criticized Potter’s team for their lack of effort following Foden’s score.

“As excellent as the goal is from City’s perspective, it is in no way adequate from Chelsea’s perspective. Nothing exists—not even any energy or tackles. You must move in closer.

“The manager must be the source. Just observe the way they are acting out there. I don’t really want to be here, it seems. They’re complaining about their own shortcomings: “We have wounded guys, and I’m not sure I want to be on the field.”

It is not acceptable nor is it good enough—certainly not for Chelsea.
