JUST IN : Man United already ahead in race to sign 27-goal star €80m fee required

According to O Jogo (page 6), Manchester United is currently leading the race to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, but they may face competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United is actively searching for a prominent striker during the summer transfer window, and recent reports indicate that they are in a favorable position to secure the signing of Ramos.

Currently, Ramos has a release clause of €120 million in his contract, but Benfica is open to selling him for approximately €80 million.

O Jogo suggests that Manchester United is already ahead in their pursuit of Ramos, but Tottenham could enter the race in the upcoming weeks.

The potential appointment of Luis Enrique as the new manager of Paris Saint-Germain has sparked rumors of Harry Kane being targeted as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe recently confirmed his decision not to extend his contract, which expires in June 2024, leading PSG to consider selling him this summer.

O Jogo mentions that Tottenham is eyeing Ramos as a potential replacement for Kane if the English striker is sold to a foreign club, with PSG being a possible destination.

Manchester United has an advantage over Tottenham in the pursuit of Ramos. The Red Devils have a longstanding relationship with his agent, Jorge Mendes, and their qualification for the Champions League puts them in a more appealing position compared to Tottenham, who won’t be participating in European competitions next season.

Ramos would be an excellent addition to Manchester United under manager Erik ten Hag. He had a remarkable 2022/23 season for Benfica, scoring 27 goals and providing 12 assists.

Apart from his goal contributions, Ramos is highly skilled in high pressing and consistently wins duels on the pitch. His ability to hold up play and his speed in the final third make him a desirable signing at the reported price.

Considering his young age, Ramos has the potential to further improve and develop into a world-class striker for Manchester United in the future.
