JUST IN: Take £70m, allow him go – Glenn John tells Chelsea to let midfielder leave

Chelsea have been advised to consent to Bayern Munich’s £70million offer for Mason Mount and grant the England international to depart.

Glenn Johnson, a previous Premier League superstar, believes that the midfielder’s performance has diminished since Thomas Tuchel’s departure from the club.

Johnson is of the view that the midfielder would be an outstanding acquisition for Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich.

The midfielder was not in favor under sacked manager Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge and is currently in a stalemate with the club over a new contract.

The England international’s agreement will end at the end of the 2023/24 season, and he has already declined Chelsea’s previous proposal, which he deemed insufficient. “Mason Mount would be brilliant at Bayern – Chelsea should accept £70m for him,” Johnson informed DAZN.

“I honestly believe he would excel at Bayern. He has not had the same level of impact since Tuchel left Chelsea. “Chelsea should consider accepting the £70m since he is not the same as Mason Mount, and Chelsea may have to accept the money after all of their acquisitions.”
