Just In: You only have £120m to spend – Man United tell Ten Hag

Manchester United has informed manager Erik ten Hag that he has a budget of £120 million for the current summer transfer window. However, ten Hag has the potential to increase this amount through player sales.

United is projected to achieve a record annual revenue of up to £640 million this year, surpassing any other Premier League club. This has been bolstered by exceptional ticket sales of 2.4 million for the 2022/2023 season, along with record match-day revenue.

A portion of these funds may be allocated towards securing the services of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, should both clubs agree on a transfer fee. United has already submitted a “final” bid of £55 million for Mount, who has one year remaining on his contract. Officials from both clubs are scheduled to meet again at the end of the week to continue negotiations.

However, these developments occur amidst uncertainty and discontent surrounding the Glazer family, who are considering a potential sale of the club. Their response has been sluggish regarding competing offers from Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos group and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani.
