Man United can sign four free agents today who would be better than Anwar El Ghazi

Manchester United faces a deadline today at 2:00 PM to secure any free agent signings. While there have been links to Anwar El Ghazi potentially moving to Old Trafford, there are more promising options to consider than the former Aston Villa player.

In the coming weeks, Erik ten Hag is expected to have fewer attacking choices at his disposal. A public dispute between Jadon Sancho and his manager appears to be the catalyst for Sancho’s anticipated departure from the team in January.

Despite important discussions this week, the two parties have not been able to reconcile their differences. Additionally, Antony was granted an indefinite leave of absence in response to multiple allegations of mistreatment of women.

PSV Eindhoven terminated El Ghazi’s contract last week, and Ten Hag has reportedly considered him as a surprising option. However, before Manchester United is required to submit their Premier League squads early this afternoon, there are four other free agents who might be more suitable signings.

1. Antoine Ayew: The former Chelsea standout hasn’t found a new team since leaving Real Madrid at the end of the previous season. He endured a difficult period plagued by injury issues at the Bernabeu. Rangers and Crystal Palace have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the Belgian. Signing Ayew could provide Manchester United with a wealth of Premier League experience.

2. Aime Lingard: A familiar name to United supporters, Lingard is currently without a club. He left the Red Devils to join Nottingham Forest just last summer, but that move didn’t work out. Lingard has been training with West Ham, and although a return to Old Trafford might be appealing, West Ham could decide to re-sign him.

3. Andre Ayew: During the second half of the previous season, Ayew had a brief stint at Nottingham Forest. While he has over 100 appearances in the English top-flight in his career, he didn’t manage to score in his 13 Premier League games. Ayew, as the captain of Ghana, could bring leadership to the United squad, but at 34 years old in December, this would be a temporary solution in case of an emergency.

4. Oussama Idrissi: The Moroccan winger left Sevilla at the end of the previous season. He spent most of his time in Spain on loan, with a brief stint at Ajax in 2021 under Ten Hag. Idrissi would also have familiarity with Sofyan Amrabat, United’s recent addition, on an international level. At just 27 years old, he’s the youngest on this list.
