Man United could get revenge for Cody Gakpo transfer with Liverpool target keen to play under Erik ten Hag

One of Liverpool’s top transfer targets, so the rumor goes, is someone Manchester United will want to get this summer.

It was stated earlier this month that Liverpool had given up trying to sign Jude Bellingham due to the possible transfer fee the England international would command.

Despite this, Jurgen Klopp is still working to revive his midfield this summer as the club has been linked to several players from throughout Europe.

According to reports, Liverpool’s senior recruitment staff recently met to discuss which players would be available and what type of price they would demand.

At the conclusion of the current season, a number of players, including Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Moises Caicedo, Alexis MacAllister, and Ryan Gravenberch, have been considered as potential additions to the Anfield team.

Liverpool reportedly had “positive” conversations with the latter’s father earlier this month, according to reports. Gravenberch has only made one start in 28 outings for Bayern Munich, and he is allegedly open to the idea of joining Liverpool this summer.

One of Liverpool’s main rivals, United, may also be able to attract the player.

Gravenberch to United

Gravenberch would be eager to work with United boss Erik ten Hag, claims Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato.

The 20-year-old debuted for the Ajax first team while playing for Ten Hag, and the report claims that both the player and manager “would be happy to work together again.”

Aouna claimed last week that United had “already expressed” interest in speaking with Gravenberch’s representatives and that they would do so shortly.

It would be perceived as retaliation for Liverpool picking up Cody Gakpo if United were to sign Gravenberch before them.

The Old Trafford club coveted Gakpo for months, but in a shocking turn of events in the transfer process, the Netherlands international decided to join Liverpool.

Who will win the Premier League championship this season?

Man Utd was in talks to purchase Gakpo before Liverpool hijacked their agreement for the Dutch international in January.

In favor of a £16.3 million transfer to Bayern Munich, Gravenberch declined Ten Hag’s invitation to be one of his first signings at Old Trafford.

At the time, Gravenberch said this in an interview with De Telegraaf: “Manchester United is a very big and great club. But I had had such positive feelings for Bayern Munich, and I had already committed.
