Man United eye move for superb £50m gem he is an ideal Casemiro heir for Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his midfield area for the upcoming season, therefore Manchester United may make a move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

Onana is reportedly on United’s summer recruitment list, despite not being one of their top targets, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Before the new season begins, Ten Hag will aim to bolster his midfield. According to prior rumors, Everton would have sold the Belgian for almost £50 million if they had been demoted to the Championship.

Now that they have kept their top-flight status, he might be substantially more expensive, and this might make or break any deals this summer.

Manchester United may want to sign Amadou Onana.

The 21-year-old showed off his immense potential after spending just one season in the Premier League before joining the Toffees last summer. He averaged a rating of 6.92/10 in 33 games and ranked as the team’s third-best midfielder, more than justifying his £33 million transfer fee.

He was complimented for being “superb” in Everton’s victory over Arsenal earlier this year by reporter Richard Buxton. With three goal contributions, a move to a team like United might provide him the opportunity to grow even more and also make him the perfect Casemiro successor for Ten Hag.

The Brazilian still has some years left after leaving Real Madrid last summer, but the 31-year-old won’t be around forever, so the Dutchman could be prudent to sign a player who can replace him soon.

He came to Old Trafford under pressure after a trophy-laden tenure at Real Madrid, and he lived up to it by finishing as the team’s second-best player in the league last season (according to Sofascore) and won the League Cup, United’s first trophy in six years.

His defensive prowess at the center of the midfield, where he won 6.4 total duels per game while averaging 3.2 tackles and 2.1 clearances per game, was crucial in helping United qualify for the Champions League. Casemiro is among the finest on the continent in his position, ranking in the top 4% for tackles, blocks, clearances, and aerials won per 90 (as per FBref) throughout Europe’s major five leagues during the last 365 days.

Onana, in contrast, has displayed glimmers of his enormous skill. The midfielder ranks in the top 26% for all measures and is especially remarkable in terms of aerials won, where he is in the top 7% throughout Europe’s top five leagues.

He might replace the Brazilian in United’s engine room, protecting the back four and having a beneficial impact on the squad. Last season, he averaged 2.2 tackles, 1.1 clearances, and six duels won per game.

He may not be a top priority for Ten Hag, but if he becomes available for the proper price, action should be taken right once.
