Man United eye move to sign £40m star as ten Hag looks to secure key signing in the summer

If Manchester United is unable in acquiring their top striker target during the summer transfer window, they could try to acquire AS Roma forward Tammy Abraham, according to The Telegraph.

Despite signing Burnley striker Wout Weghorst on loan in the January transfer window, the Red Devils are eager to bolster their offensive options at the conclusion of the season.

Although Weghorst has had a respectable start to his United career with one goal in seven appearances across all competitions, the team is anticipated to spend heavily in the summer on a goal striker with a track record of success.

Abraham may be a more affordable alternative for Man Utd than other strikers like Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane, Dusan Vlahovic, Alvaro Morata, and Gonçalo Ramos.

The Telegraph reports that United is prioritizing the acquisition of a top striker and is debating whether to make a deal for Kane or Osimhen in the summer. Both attackers have established themselves as among of the world’s deadliest goal scorers.

Kane, the all-time leading scorer for Spurs, will enter the last year of his contract in June, therefore Man Utd may make a sizable offer to try to entice the 29-year-old to Old Trafford.

Osimhen’s outstanding goal-scoring performances this season suggest that Man Utd will need to pay at least £89.7 million (€100 million) to get him this summer. The Nigerian international leads Napoli in Serie A scoring with 15 goals in 20 games in all competitions.
alternate possibility

Abraham, who is rated at £40 million by Transfermarkt, might be an astute backup plan for Ten Hag’s team if United are unable to sign players like Kane or Osimhen in the next summer transfer window.

Due to limited cash after making significant summer purchases, Abraham’s transfer to Manchester United was originally mentioned last month. However, the club may rekindle their interest towards the conclusion of the current campaign.

Since joining Roma in 2021, the England international has been a crucial component in their machine. With a victory over Feyenoord last season, he helped the Giallorossi win their first significant European trophy in more than 60 years. He has played in 81 games, scored 34 goals, and contributed 10 assists.

He has made a total of 28 appearances this season for Roma, who are now third in the Serie A standings with 40 points, only three points behind Inter Milan in second place. He has also contributed to 12 goals throughout all competitions.
