Man United in talks to sign £30m star as ten Hag targets 2 more signings this month

Erik ten Hag has already made significant additions to his squad, securing Andre Onana from Ajax as their new goalkeeper and bringing in Mason Mount from Chelsea to bolster the midfield. In addition, Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta has joined as another striker for Manchester United.

Nonetheless, according to reports from Football Insider, ten Hag has not finished strengthening his team, as he is keen on acquiring two more players before the transfer window closes. Specifically, he is targeting a fresh defender and an additional central midfielder.

The sources state that Sofyan Amrabat is Man Utd’s primary midfield target. Discussions have already taken place between the player’s agent and the Red Devils about a potential transfer to Old Trafford this summer. Amrabat’s name has been frequently associated with a move to United in recent months, with Fiorentina reportedly willing to negotiate a deal if a £30 million offer is put forward.

The report also reveals that Manchester United has initiated initial talks to secure the services of Benjamin Pavard, identifying the Bayern Munich player as a key defensive target. Pavard, a versatile 27-year-old, is reportedly interested in embracing a fresh challenge and is open to the idea of joining United this season.

However, the same report highlights that any progress on moves for Amrabat and Pavard hinges on Manchester United raising additional funds by offloading some of their peripheral players. Erik ten Hag is reportedly attempting to offload players like Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek to create space for incoming signings.

The planned move for Maguire to West Ham has fallen through as the English defender is determined to remain at Old Trafford and compete for his place. Despite not making the matchday squad for their recent Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur, Maguire is resolute in his desire to stay and fight for his position among a group of center-backs including Lisandro Martínez, Raphaël Varane, Victor Lindelöf, and Johnny Evans.

Scott McTominay has attracted interest from several clubs, while Donny van de Beek’s departure from the club appears imminent, which could facilitate the arrival of another midfield signing in the near future.

In summary, Manchester United seems poised to pursue players like Amrabat and Pavard, but the execution of these moves relies on the club first clearing out surplus players to free up resources and space within the squad.
