Man United in the race for complete £26m rock, he will be Ten Hag’s own Akanji

Despite facing competition from Manchester City, Manchester United is reportedly still in the race to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, with West Ham United also expressing interest. Recent transfer rumors suggest that United is looking to offload Harry Maguire ahead of the upcoming season.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg confirmed United’s interest in Pavard as a potential replacement for Maguire. However, Manchester City and Juventus are also vying for Pavard’s signature, with discussions between City and the player’s management already taking place. As of now, FC Bayern is awaiting firm offers for Pavard.

Pavard, a 27-year-old versatile player, has entered the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich, making him a sought-after target. He could be available for around €30 million (£26 million) if sold this summer.

The French World Cup champion’s versatility, being able to play both right-back and center-back, adds to his appeal as an asset for any team. His skills in playing out from the back and his ability to make progressive passes and carries make him a potential success in the Premier League.

If signed by United and paired with coach Erik ten Hag, Pavard has the potential to surprise and make a significant impact, similar to Manuel Akanji, who moved from the Bundesliga to Manchester City and achieved considerable success. Both players possess qualities that make them valuable additions to their respective teams and could prove to be smart investments for Manchester United.
