Man United in the race to sign £13m gem who is “born to score”, it will be over for Martial

It seems that Rasmus Hojlund won’t be the only striker making his way to Manchester United this summer. The Red Devils are also expressing interest in Santos prodigy Marcos Leonardo.

The 20-year-old Brazilian could be available for a relatively low fee of €15 million (£13 million) during this transfer window. While there were rumors of him potentially joining AS Roma under Jose Mourinho, recent developments suggest that negotiations have hit a snag, presenting an opportunity for Manchester United and their manager Erik ten Hag to make a move.

Manchester United had already secured a £72 million deal with Atalanta for Hojlund earlier in the summer, showing their intent to strengthen their attacking options.

Currently, Anthony Martial is the only senior striker option for Ten Hag, but his injury record raises concerns. The addition of both Hojlund and Leonardo could potentially mark the end of Martial’s time at the club, as there are reports that Manchester United is open to offers for the former Monaco player.

Marcos Leonardo has shown great promise, impressively scoring 14 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions this season, outperforming Martial’s nine goals in 29 games during the 2022/23 season.

Jacek Kulig, a talent scout, speaks highly of Leonardo, praising him as “born to score” and possessing the potential to become a prolific goal scorer. With his young age and impressive track record of 47 goals in 149 senior appearances for Santos, it’s no surprise that there is significant interest in his services.

After eight years at Manchester United, it appears Martial’s time at the club might be coming to an end. The arrival of young and ambitious talents like Hojlund and Leonardo signals the club’s determination to bolster their attacking prowess and move forward.
