Man United to offload struggling Solskjaer signing for next-to nothing as two clubs thunder towards immediate deal

Van de Beek, who arrived at Manchester United for £35 million during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure at Ajax, has struggled to replicate his Eredivisie form in England. He has made only 60 appearances for the club, primarily as a substitute, and has managed to score just two goals.

Despite being listed for sale by Manchester United this summer, potential deals fell through due to a combination of a lack of interest and the club’s high valuation, reminiscent of previous cases involving Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.

While there have been foreign clubs expressing interest in Van de Beek, including links to Real Sociedad, Manchester United reportedly demanded a fee between £12 million and £15 million. Unfortunately, these negotiations didn’t progress.

Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have now emerged as potential destinations for Van de Beek, given their willingness to pay a considerably lower fee for his services. Manchester United is now open to a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy, even at a reduced price, rather than holding out for a higher transfer fee.

CBS correspondent Ben Jacobs provided an update on the situation, stating that it’s clear Van de Beek is not in Erik ten Hag’s plans at Manchester United. The club is working against time to secure a late solution, with interest from Saudi Arabia and more notably, Turkey. Unless a last-minute resolution is found, Manchester United might be left with Van de Beek, but they may need to compromise on price and loan terms to make a deal happen.

Van de Beek’s prospects at Manchester United have diminished further with the recent additions of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat to the club’s 25-man Champions League roster. With his contract running until the summer of 2025, it’s increasingly likely that he won’t feature for Manchester United again, particularly with the Turkish transfer window closing on September 15.
