Premier League could swap venues for next weekend’s fixtures

According to The Athletic, the Premier League is considering a number of site changes for the round of games that will take place next weekend.

The games this weekend have been canceled due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

The Queen’s funeral, which will take place on Monday, September 19, at Westminster Abbey, is expected to interfere with next week’s games as well.

This is because of policing, which calls into question not only Tottenham’s game against Leicester City but also Chelsea’s matchup with Liverpool and Brentford’s matchup with Arsenal.

Even though there may be “disagreements” over the match locations, Premier League teams are still “hopeful” that the games will take place.

One suggestion being discussed would make London teams the home teams instead, sending Tottenham to Leicester and Liverpool to Chelsea.

Since both clubs are located in London, this would not provide a solution for Brentford’s game versus Arsenal, and it is unclear what would happen to that specific matchup.
