Pundit slams Chelsea’s lack of spark despite £600 million investment in new talent, calls Graham Potter unimpressive too

Chelsea don’t appear remarkable, according to Garth Crooks, despite spending £600 million on new arrivals. Crooks also believes Potter isn’t unique.

“If a club invests £600 million on 17 players, I want that team to look a little spectacular,” Crooks told the BBC. I would also expect that squad to have some of the top players in the world, as well as a manager of comparable caliber.

“At the moment, Chelsea has neither. In reality, the Blues were unimpressive against West Ham. I would admit that, based on this performance, Enzo Fernandez seems to be a player who might definitely thrive in the Premier League. However, I’d want to ask Todd Boehly how he spent all that money and didn’t sign even one true world-class striker.

“I believe the Chelsea owner understands what he’s doing. If not, he should swiftly hire a very strong technical director who is. Brighton, Fulham, and Brentford are presently ahead of them despite spending a fraction of what Chelsea has.”
