Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, has explained why the team chose to hire a former head coach of Paris Saint-Germain to manage the Blues.
Pochettino’s appointment as the men’s team’s head coach beginning with the 2023/2024 season was officially announced by Chelsea on Monday.
The Argentine will start in his new position on July 1, 2023, under a two-year deal with a one-year club option.
Boehly said that the reason the west London club chose to hire Pochettino as Chelsea manager is because the Argentine is a top-tier coach with an exceptional track record.
According to the club’s official website, Boehly and Chelsea’s other co-owners Behdad Eghbali, José E. Feliciano, Mark Walter, and Hansjörg Wyss said: “The sporting team performed a meticulous and thoughtful process that the Board is proud of.
“Mauricio joining Chelsea is fantastic news, and we are thrilled about it. Mauricio is an exceptional coach with a proven track record. All of us are eager to welcome him on board.
