Former England striker Michael Owen claims that Bruno Fernandes’ goal against Manchester City on Saturday should have been disallowed.
After Rashford, who was in an offside position, made a move for the ball before slowing down, Fernandes swung the ball past Ederson.
Jack Grealish’s header had given City a 1-0 lead at that stage in the match.
Marcus Rashford scored the winning goal on Alejandro Garnacho’s low pass just moments after Fernandes’ goal was upheld.
Regarding the goal, Owen commented on Premier League Productions: “I think he did make a movement towards the ball.
If Rashford were not involved, Ederson and the two players pursuing him might arrive before Bruno, in my opinion.
Therefore, by being offside, he has undoubtedly directly influenced that goal.
