“They are in danger” – Graeme Souness issues warning to Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool

Graeme Souness asserts that Chelsea and Liverpool are “in danger” and that “the usual order of things is changing” in the Premier League.

Chelsea and Liverpool are both now outside of the top four teams in the English Premier League.

Graham Potter’s Blues are now in fifth place after drawing their past two games, while Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are only in eighth place after winning only four of their first 11 league games.

Two points separate Premier League leaders Arsenal and reigning champion Manchester City, while Newcastle United moved into the top four with a victory over third-place Tottenham on Sunday.

Newcastle’s comeback under Eddie Howe has impressed Souness, who believes the Magpies may ‘easily’ edge Chelsea and Liverpool for a top-four berth.

I am aware of how challenging the position of Newcastle manager is and how challenging it may be to win everyone over, Souness admitted to talkSPORT. However, I believe the manager did a terrific job.

“I thought they were fantastic when I saw them play against Liverpool, travel to Anfield, which is a hostile area, a difficult place to play, and arrive at Anfield and want to play Liverpool at their game.”

“What I witnessed yesterday seemed to be a team without fear; it was a team that went to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and yelled, “Come on then. Is that everything you have? … they were fantastic; they played aggressively, on the front foot, and from the sidelines, they appeared to be a more physically fit squad than the Spurs.

“Newcastle is now playing brilliantly; no team wants to play them right now.”

He couldn’t purchase a goal in the Premier League, look at Miguel Almiron. He has now scored in three straight games, I believe. He’s now beginning to look at home.

When asked which teams could replace the top-six teams, Souness added: “The usual course of events is altering…

There is a gap there for Newcastle because you have to assume that Liverpool are in danger and perhaps Chelsea are as well.

I’m currently watching a few teams, and while I can’t promise anything, I think Newcastle will play well and have a positive mindset.

They don’t sustain many injuries either, therefore they have a good chance of finishing in the top four.
