You joined them for money – Carlton Cole slams Lingard over Forest move

Carlton Cole, a former Chelsea and West Ham striker, criticized Jesse Lingard for choosing to sign with Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League newcomers were the team the England international chose over West Ham United.

Pundits have referred to Lingard’s time at West Ham United during the second part of the 2020–21 season as his time in football.

Many have questioned Forest’s decision to make Lingard their highest-paid player, earning roughly £200,000 per week, and the former Man United star has come under fire for passing on West Ham.

The 29-year-old was interested in returning to the London Stadium with the Hammers, but Cole thinks he selected Nottingham Forest because of the money.

The former England great told talkSPORT, “As a player, I know he’s gone to Forest for the money.”

“I’m not inspired by that! I’m not stepping up my game for him as a player.

Cole claimed that if Lingard had been a member of the recently promoted team, he would not have been impressed by his transfer to Nottingham Forest.
