Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has advised striker Nicolas Jackson to work on improving his physical condition. Despite showing promise and talent since joining Chelsea from Villarreal this summer, where he scored two goals in his last two games for the Blues, Pochettino believes that Jackson needs to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
Pochettino commended Jackson’s quality and composure in front of the goal, expressing satisfaction that the striker has been able to find the back of the net to build confidence. However, he emphasized that the Premier League presents a higher tempo and more intense transitions compared to La Liga, and being physically prepared is essential to thrive in the competition.
Given that Jackson arrived at Chelsea late and didn’t start pre-season with the team from the beginning, Pochettino acknowledged that there’s still room for improvement in his physical readiness.
The Chelsea manager believes that the upcoming pre-season game against Newcastle United will be beneficial for Jackson’s adaptation to the Premier League. Competing against a strong team like Newcastle, who will be participating in the Champions League, will provide valuable experience for the young striker.
