“You should have let him go” – Glen Johnson challenges Chelsea over England star
Glen Johnson claims that Chelsea, his former club, made a critical error by not allowing midfielder Conor Gallagher to go on loan this summer.

Gallagher greatly impressed during his loan season at Premier League club Crystal Palace last year.

The 22-year-old, who played for Crystal Palace under manager Patrick Vieira, scored eight goals in 34 Premier League appearances, earning him the title of player of the year for 2021–22.

For the 2022–23 campaign, Crystal Palace expressed interest in re-loaning him, while other Premier League clubs also expressed an interest.

For Gallagher, loan moves to Aston Villa, West Ham, Everton, and Newcastle United were all mentioned.

However, the Blues made the decision to keep him at Stamford Bridge, and Gallagher was only allowed to play 158 minutes in the Premier League during Chelsea’s first six games.

Johnson said SafeBettingSites, “I don’t think in terms of leaving the club, but another season on loan for Gallagher would have been excellent for him.

Personally, I would have rather for him to continue growing because he was obviously having fun.

“I’d rather Chelsea had let him go back out on loan and then reassess the situation at the conclusion of the season,” the fan said.
