HERE WE GO: Chelsea Completed The Signing of Argentina Star midfielder Enzo Fernandez

At least one other club is reportedly in the running to sign the 21-year-old in January after he emerged as one of the World Cup’s surprise stars.

During a meeting with their president Rui Costa and super-agent Jorge Mendes, Chelsea officials already told Benfica of their interest in Fernandez.

The Blues want to get a jump on their competitors since midfielders are a hot commodity at Manchester United and Liverpool for the summer transfer window.

Benfica will reject all bids unless Fernandez’s release clause is satisfied because he is under contract until 2027 and was a crucial part of Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar.

Should a deal be reached with Benfica, Chelsea has not yet reached an agreement with the player.

TYC Sports, a well-known site in Argentina, also claims that Chelsea paid €127 million for Enzo Fernandez.

With N’Golo Kante and Jorginho’s contracts set to expire next summer, Chelsea is still interested in midfielders Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham from England in addition to Fernandez.

Chelsea has made an aggressive start to the January transfer window; the club has already reached an agreement to pay £50 million to acquire RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku in the summer.

Additionally, they have largely reached agreements on contracts to sign the young duo of David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos from Molde and Vasco as well as to sign £35 million Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile.
