“You are going to waste money” – Chelsea accused of making crazy transfer mistake in January transfer window

Steve Nicol, a former player for Liverpool, claims that Chelsea made a huge error in signing World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez for €127 million.

Fernandez, 21, has a €120 million release clause, and Chelsea is reportedly willing to pay that sum to sign him in January and bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Fernandez has left Nicol perplexed, and he calls the proposed transaction “crazy.”

“Am I the only one wondering, ‘what’s up with Chelsea?'” he asked ESPN.

You’re going to pay Enzo Fernandez £120 million? Am I the only one that has that thought? £102 million?

He’s a hot commodity? Cody Gakpo is in high demand because he scores goals and Liverpool paid £37 million for him.

“I’m sorry, Enzo Fernandez is a wonderful player and had a great World Cup. But £120,000,000? When it comes to your troubles and struggles, I believe Chelsea has turned everything around.

“You’ll waste £120 million. Fernandez won’t help you moving forward, and their problems will continue. Am I the only one who thinks £120 million for this guy is absurd?

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has also reacted to Chelsea’s pursuit of Enzo Fernandez.

Neville tweeted: “Are Chelsea paying €127m for Enzo Fernandez? That is a really steep price. However, bloody hell! A very good player!
