Liverpool have now shocked Manchester United by agreeing to pay €50million (£44m) for PSV Eindhoven striker Cody Gakpo
On Monday night, as the Reds defeated Manchester United as a rival, negotiations between Liverpool and PSV were launched.
Liverpool has benefited from United’s failure to make a financial offer to PSV after talks between the two parties began weeks ago.
PSV announced that both teams have agreed a deal on Twitter, confirming the news.
PSV shared the following in a tweet:
PSV and @LFC have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo.
The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer.

As the Glazers will soon sell the club, Manchester United was eager to sign players on a loan rather than paying them now.
Gakpo turned down offers from Leeds and Southampton to stay at PSV during the summer.
Despite United’s Erik Ten Hag playing in the Europa League, the 23-year-old expected offers from clubs in the Champions League.
Due to Luis Diaz’s injury, Liverpool have now signed Gakpo, and he even underwent knee surgery while Darwin Nunez is still struggling to recover his form.
PSV was adamant that they wanted about £45 million for the Dutch international.
The continuous discussion regarding a possible sale of Manchester United has put everything in the rearview mirror.
There will be more.
