“Liverpool out of title race” – Klopp speaks on 3-2 defeat to Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has acknowledged that his club is not in the running to win the Premier League.

With a 3-2 defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, the Reds slipped 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Only 58 seconds had passed when Gabriel Martinelli scored his first goal before Darwin Nunez tied the score.

On the cusp of halftime, Bukayo Saka then reinstated the Gunners’ advantage.

Eight minutes into the second half, substitute Roberto Firmino pulled the Reds even once more, but Saka gave the Gunners a crucial victory by converting a penalty in the 76th minute after Thiago Alacantara’s foul on Gabriel Jesus.

“We’re not competing. Imagine that I am sitting here thinking, ‘We are almost there,'” Klopp remarked.

Despite having a game in hand over the top three teams, Liverpool has only won twice in its last eight league contests.
